Vantara, under the passionate guidance of Anant Bhai Ambani, has emerged as a global beacon of wildlife conservation. The organization’s tireless efforts in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation have not only saved thousands of animals but also transformed the landscape of animal welfare worldwide. As Vantara’s influence grows, so does its mission to protect and rehabilitate animals in need, ensuring they thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
Rescue Missions: From India to Global Frontiers
One of Vantara’s remarkable achievements is the rescue of more than 200 leopards across India, primarily victims of road accidents and human-wildlife conflicts. In addition, Vantara has relocated over 1,000 crocodiles from an overcrowded facility in Tamil Nadu, significantly improving their living conditions.
But Vantara’s impact transcends national boundaries. The organization has conducted complex international operations, rescuing animals from hunting lodges in Africa, providing sanctuary to animals facing euthanasia in Slovakia, and rehabilitating severely distressed animals in Mexico. This global outreach underscores Vantara’s commitment to wildlife preservation, no matter how challenging the circumstances.
Monimola: A World-First in Veterinary Innovation
A shining example of Vantara’s dedication is the groundbreaking care provided to Monimola, an elephant rescued in 2023. During her health check, Vantara’s medical team discovered a large stone in her urinary bladder. Utilizing laser lithotripsy, they successfully broke down the stone, making Monimola the first elephant globally to undergo this advanced treatment. Such innovations demonstrate Vantara’s forward-thinking approach and its commitment to providing the best care possible for the animals in its custody.
Pratima and Maniklal: A Story of Hope and Recovery
Another powerful story is the rescue of Pratima and her calf, Maniklal, from Tripura. Both were found in dire conditions—Pratima severely underweight and blind in one eye, with multiple wounds and stiff limbs, while Maniklal was malnourished. Vantara’s specialized rescue team provided immediate medical care. Today, thanks to the relentless efforts of Vantara’s dedicated team, both mother and calf are on the road to recovery.

A Cutting-Edge Centre for Wildlife Care
At the heart of Vantara’s success is its state-of-the-art Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, which cares for over 200 elephants, including the beloved Leelavati. The Centre is staffed by more than 500 specialists, including veterinarians, biologists, nutritionists, and naturalists, ensuring every animal receives round-the-clock care.
The Centre is equipped with advanced medical technologies, including portable x-ray machines, laser treatment devices, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, and a fully stocked pharmacy. This cutting-edge facility has set a new standard for animal care, allowing Vantara to provide comprehensive medical attention to all the animals it rescues.
A Commitment to Community and Sustainability
In addition to wildlife care, Vantara’s commitment extends to rehabilitating 450 mahouts across India, fostering sustainable livelihoods and strengthening their connection with the elephants they care for. Vantara also partners with local farmers to grow organic fodder, providing the Centre’s elephants with 200 kgs of feed per day. These efforts demonstrate Vantara’s dedication to sustainability and community engagement.
A Future of Wildlife Conservation
On this National Wildlife Day, Vantara reaffirms its unwavering commitment to animal welfare and conservation. With a vision guided by Anant Bhai Ambani’s leadership, Vantara continues to set new standards in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and welfare.
