Unilever, the multinational consumer goods company, has announced the promotion of Kristy Nelwan to the role of Chair of ED&I Board in Indonesia. In her previous role at Unilever, Nelwan served as the Head of Communication in Indonesia for three years.
Before joining Unilever, Nelwan served as Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications at Gojek, a ride-hailing company, for almost two years. She also worked at Coca-Cola Amatil as Head of Corporate Communications for almost four years, where she was in charge of the company’s external and internal communication, issue management, and corporate social responsibility strategy in Indonesia.

Nelwan also worked for more than a year as the External Corporate Communications Manager for the insurance company Prudential Indonesia. During her time there, she was in charge of writing content for all publications that were sent out to the public, such as customer newsletters and annual reports. Nelwan also worked as a consultant for the PR and communications firm Edelman for almost three years.
In a LinkedIn post, Nelwan expressed her excitement about her new role, saying, “Nothing beats the thrill of doing something that’s really close to your heart, with an organisation that is at the forefront of the subject. Unilever has also made changes to its leadership team by shifting Javed Jafri to a South Asia-based role as the media, digital, and data lead for the Pakistan market. Jafri used to be in charge of Unilever’s digital, data, and commerce hubs for ice cream in Southeast Asia and Indonesia. He was also in charge of the media in Malaysia and Singapore. He will now be part of the South Asia media and digital team under the leadership of Tejas Apte, GM Media South Asia at Unilever.
