Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that all Tesla Superchargers in Israel will be free for use, reflecting corporate responsibility and empathy, in response to the recent Hamas terror attacks, as shared on Twitter.
Tesla boasts a robust charging infrastructure in Israel with 22 Supercharger stations spread across the nation. These aren’t just any charging stations; Tesla’s Superchargers are renowned for their rapid charging capabilities.
They can pump up to 250 kW of power, enabling Tesla vehicles to achieve an impressive 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes. As per the company’s official website, these Superchargers are strategically located from the northernmost parts of Israel, close to the Lebanon border, through central regions like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and extending to the southern tip in Eilat by the Red Sea.
Furthermore, Tesla’s commitment to expanding its reach in Israel is evident, with several more Superchargers set to open their doors in 2023 and 2024.
Tesla’s recent gesture in Israel isn’t an isolated incident. The company has a commendable track record of offering free Supercharging in regions grappling with emergencies. Whether it’s natural disasters like the hurricanes that battered Florida or the devastating wildfires in California, Tesla has stepped up.
The company also extended this support during geopolitical crises, notably during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The backdrop to Tesla’s decision is the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) remains active, targeting Hamas’ terror infrastructure in Gaza. Despite facing condemnation and being labeled a terrorist entity by numerous countries, Hamas continues its low-intensity rocket assaults.
Elon Musk’s decision to provide free Supercharging in Israel is not just a corporate move but a testament to Tesla’s commitment to its customers and humanity during challenging times, highlighting the role businesses can play in providing support and relief during crises.
