Get ready for a significant transition in the political landscape of Selangor, as the State Assembly is set to dissolve on June 23.
The formal proclamation of dissolution was sanctioned by Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Istana Alam Shah. The auspicious moment occurred just past 10 in the morning on Monday, June 19.
Earlier that morning, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the State Mentri Besar, met with Sultan Sharafuddin before the historic announcement was declared.
The dissolution news of the Selangor State Assembly’s 14th term will be officially communicated to the Election Commission by Speaker Ng Suee Lim.

Following this pivotal event, it is mandatory that the polls are held within 60 days of the dissolution date, that is, by August 23.
The dissolution implies that all state seats under the Selangor Legislative Assembly will now be open for elections.
Moreover, the Selangor executive council will be disbanded in this process. Consequently, Amirudin will don the mantle of caretaker Mentri Besar.
Selangor is set to join the polling race along with Penang, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, and Terengganu, which are in anticipation of their dissolution.
Notably, the dissolution of the Selangor Legislative Assembly precedes the official end of its term by two days, which was scheduled for June 25.
