Microsoft Corp, in a move to keep pace with Alphabet Inc’s Google, has commenced a comprehensive roll-out of advanced AI upgrades, affecting their chatbot ChatGPT, the Bing search engine, and a myriad of cloud services.
Announced at the annual Microsoft Build conference, ChatGPT will now leverage Bing’s live search results, thereby extending its capabilities beyond its previous information cut-off in 2021. This feature is initially available to paid subscribers, with plans to roll it out to free users soon.

Additionally, Bing will see an enhancement in plug-in options, based on a standard ratified by OpenAI. These changes will enable businesses to interact more conveniently with customers via the search engine. For example, a Bing tool could recommend a recipe to a user and then allow for easy ordering of ingredients from Instacart in a single click.
Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s consumer chief marketing officer, believes that these developments signify a profound shift in how users engage with the internet. As part of Microsoft’s strategic moves to secure a more significant portion of the global search advertising market, these enhancements to Bing are instrumental.

While Google, Microsoft’s primary competitor, is also on the cusp of implementing AI upgrades for its search engine, it is yet to do so comprehensively. The duel between Bing’s ChatGPT and Google’s chatbot, Bard, to be consumers’ preferred search engine remains heated.
Microsoft also plans to introduce a range of new features for cloud services, including plug-ins for Microsoft 365 Copilot, the company’s AI assistant for enterprises. The company is also working on AI-generated image and video validation capabilities. This news is based on Malay Mail.
