The launch of this new interest badge follows Bumble’s nationwide survey that reveals that close to half of Singaporeans watch sporting events with their partners
As we gear up for the pinnacle of motorsport – the electrifying night race happening in the heart of Singapore this weekend, Bumble, the women-first dating app, has launched a new Motorsports badge. This new badge can be added to your profile, an easy way for motorsports enthusiasts to rev up their romance and connect with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for the sport this season.
This new interest badge adds to ways people find partners with a similar love of sports. Two in three (61%) Bumble users surveyed in Singapore* include a sports interest badge on their profile. This doesn’t come as a surprise as the survey revealed that a third of Singaporeans (35%) indicated that a shared love of sports as a ‘must-have’ for a potential partner – be it as a player or spectator.
Sports and an adrenaline-rush of romance
With the annual heart-pumping night race in Singapore expected to see over 250,000 spectators come together to witness the battle for the podium, this is the perfect season for couples to connect over their love of spectating sports.
After all, a recent Bumble survey** revealed that close to half (43%) of Singaporeans watch sporting events with their partners. In fact, approximately one in three (35%) Singaporeans surveyed find that watching sporting events together make for great dates, with 73% of them believing that it helps them learn about their partner’s interest and passion, and more than two in three (66%) believing that it will help them get to know the other party’s personality more, such as the way they react to a win or loss. Beyond just a tool for entertainment, the increasing interest in sports supported by Bumble’s research underscores its potential to foster deeper connections and build stronger relationships.
Race to find your match!
To put your best foot forward this race season, here are some tips from Bumble on how you can embark on your own thrilling and romantic adventure:
● Add the new Motorsports interest badge to your profile: Interest badges are the quickest way to let potential matches know what’s important to you, making it much easier for you to find your spectator partner for the upcoming race. Besides the Motorsports badge, Bumble has more than 150 interest badges, of which more than 50 are sports interest badges that can showcase your full personality.
● Bring the passion to your profile: Drop your favourite team, the days you’re hitting up the tracks and which after-parties you’re heading to, to connect with those who share your enthusiasm. Ladies- if you’re racing to get conversations going from the get-go, set an Opening Move that your connections can respond to, such as “Which motorsports racer would be stuck on an island with?” or “Which auto-racing team do you support, and why?”.
● Plan active and creative dates: Didn’t manage to get tickets to the races? No worries – take it outside to a local bar or pub that might be broadcasting throughout the three days. Whether you participate or spectate, opt for creative dates that mean something to you, like a sports watch party or an outdoor group date setting.
● Enjoy the season with friends: A friendly, large-group setting offers an easy way to make a date more relaxed, giving you a way to connect with someone in-person over your shared passions, reducing the first date nerves! The shared effort and endorphins released create a positive environment for meaningful connections to grow.

As we immerse ourselves in the symphony of speed under the stars, we’re seeing the intertwining of sports and romance, with more than 1 in 3 indicating a shared love of sports as a ‘must-have*’. More and more, we’re seeing people use Bumble’s profile interest badges to find and connnect with those that share their passions, whether it’s motorsports or a shared appreciation for a specific cuisine or music. Whether you’re a local, involved in the races, or just visiting as a spectator – Bumble is here to help you make those meaningful connections on your terms.”
