Perikatan Nasional (PN), the Malaysian coalition, is in the final stages of election preparation, with 97% of negotiations among its component parties completed, as announced by Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the PAS vice-president. The coalition is gearing up for the impending six-state elections, with only a handful of seats still under negotiation.
Of the 245 seats PN intends to compete for in the states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah, and Penang, five to six remain unresolved. However, Mokhtar, also the Terengganu menteri besar, reassured that there is ample time to settle these remaining issues before the election date.

Within the coalition, Bersatu and Mokhtar’s party, PAS, are still in discussions over one remaining seat out of the total 32 in Terengganu. Further discussions regarding the PAS’s candidates for the state elections are scheduled for tonight. The location and start time of the discussion are yet to be confirmed.

The final component of the PN coalition is Gerakan, another major player in the upcoming elections. The six states, whose five-year term is expiring, will start holding elections this year, beginning with Selangor on June 25 and concluding with Penang on August 2, unless their state assemblies are dissolved earlier.
