In Malaysia, despite varying political views, all parties stand united in their concern for Palestine’s challenges, according to Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, the MP for Ayer Hitam. He commended the Malaysian Parliament’s decision to allow a discussion on the recent surge in hostilities between Palestine and Israel, noting that such debates consistently condemn the actions of the Zionists. However, Dr Wee expressed frustration over the lack of follow-through on resolutions related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
During the debate, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal called on the government to foster religious and cultural ties with Palestine and other Muslim nations. This move aims to counteract the narrative promoted by the Zionist regime. Given the strong backing Israel receives from American lobbies, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal emphasized the need for Muslim countries to demonstrate their unity with Palestinians, particularly through religious and cultural education. He further advocated for robust support for Hamas and the Al-Qassam Brigade in their defense of Palestinian territories, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He proposed a fresh diplomatic approach, emphasizing religious and cultural diplomacy, recognizing the religious nuances present in the conflict from both Muslim and Jewish perspectives.
Earlier in the session, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi presented a special motion on the Palestinian-Israel situation. The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Malaysia’s steadfast position on the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel.
