Anthony Loke, who is in charge of transportation, wasn’t happy with how Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) did in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023. In this article, we’ll talk about how KLIA’s ranking dropped and what the Transport Minister said about it.
KLIA’s Declining Ranking
Loke pointed out that KLIA’s ranking has declined over the years, from 14th 10 years ago to 44th five years ago and now to 67th. He believes that KLIA should be among the top 10 airports in the world.
Efforts to Improve KLIA’s Ranking
To achieve this goal, Loke identified several issues that need to be addressed. Firstly, the aerotrain service needs to be fixed immediately to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for airport visitors. The upkeep of the airport, the baggage handling system, and the atmosphere therein are additional issues that need consideration.
Upgrading Works at KLIA Loke revealed that Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has already started upgrading works, and that this will continue gradually. This upgrade is essential to create a good first impression on arrivals in the country, as the airport is the first entry point for foreign visitors in Malaysia.
Importance of KLIA’s Ranking
Loke emphasized that KLIA’s ranking is crucial for the country’s reputation, as the airport is the first point of entry for foreign visitors. A smooth journey, from getting off the plane to passing through immigration, is crucial to ensure that visitors have a positive impression of the country.
