The Last Encore: KISS Takes a Meaningful Exit
As rock legends KISS bid farewell to their fervent Australian fanbase at the “Final Curtain” concert on October 7, 2023, at Accor Stadium, Sydney, they are doing so with philanthropy in their hearts. The iconic band is partnering with One World Entertainment and TEG to launch the ‘Support Our Veterans Appeal’, aimed at raising vital donations and elevating public awareness around the well-being of Australia’s military veterans.
“Even after 50 years of performing to fans across the globe, it is admirable to see a legendary band like KISS devote their status and legacy to advocating for those that fought for our country,” said Geoff Jones, Group CEO of TEG, who himself is a former ADF member and the son of a Vietnam veteran.
Legacy and Wounded Heroes Australia: Charities for the Brave
The initiative will channel funds to two remarkable organizations: Legacy, a century-old institution that has long supported veterans’ families, and Wounded Heroes Australia, which offers 24/7 crisis support to ADF members and veterans in dire financial straits or at risk of homelessness.
Lieutenant General Greg Bilton AO, CSC, Chief of Joint Operations for the Australian Defence Force, emphasized, “As a patron of Wounded Heroes and advocate for Legacy, I am extremely proud of the dedication these charities have to support the families of veterans who have lost their lives or been injured as a result of their service.”
The Ultimate Concert Experience: Free Tickets and Donations
Beginning September 5, 2023, a donation of $10 will be contributed to Legacy and Wounded Heroes Australia for every concert ticket sold. Furthermore, KISS is generously offering 5,000 free concert tickets to current and ex-serving ADF personnel, providing them an opportunity to experience the monumental event alongside their families and friends.
Andrew McManus, CEO of One World Entertainment, noted, “After being made aware of the plight of our returned servicemen and women, and the need for awareness of the mental health and welfare of our defence force, manager of KISS Doc McGhee, along with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley did not hesitate in the establishment of their Support for the Veterans Appeal.”
The Final Showdown: Accor Stadium Will Resonate With Legends
Accor Stadium, a venue that has hosted numerous iconic events, will be the stage for KISS’s final Australian performance. The band’s unwavering connection with Australia dates back to their first-ever tour in 1980, capturing the hearts of generations of fans over four decades.
Joining the legendary lineup will be Californian rockers, WEEZER, along with special support acts from Oz rockers Regurgitator & The Delta Riggs. The final curtain is more than just a farewell concert; it’s an occasion to celebrate the intersection of rock ‘n’ roll and charitable action, making it a truly unforgettable event.
