Global semiconductor company Infineon Technologies (Infineon) is expanding its Kulim facility. This expansion is beyond the original investment announced in February 2022. The company will build the world’s largest 200-millimeter silicon carbide (SiC) power fabrication plant. The investment will be up to five billion euros over the next five years.
Infineon expects this investment to lead to significant growth. The annual SiC revenue potential could reach seven billion euros by the end of the decade. Infineon plans to convert 200-millimeter SiC in Villach and Kulim. The company aims to support a SiC market share target of 30% by decade’s end.
