Creating content without distribution is like cooking a great dish without anyone having to taste it.
If you have spent time and energy to create content and you do not make an effort to distribute it, no one is going to see it and appreciate it.
Here are two ways to increase the distribution of your content for the right people to see it.
Post on relevant channels
The first thing you need to ensure is that it is delivered consistently and at the right place. This means identifying the distribution channels that are right for your content.
For instance, LinkedIn is good for posting professional content, whereas Pinterest is probably not the right channel. Posting short tweets multiple times a day on Twitter is the right way to go, but doing the same on LinkedIn or Facebook will most likely annoy your connections.
As for me, I write a lot of articles. So I post them on the platforms where the audience prefers reading long articles. My primary channels are Marketing In Asia, Medium and LinkedIn. As for my secondary channels, I post on Facebook and SCIKEY. I get good traction for posting articles as Facebook posts. As for SCIKEY, it is mainly for job and career-related content.
While it is recommended to post three to four times a day to reach as many people as possible, I would recommend posting at least once a day with the proper distribution. You only get burned out by writing too much.
Share your content
Sharing or distributing your content is the easiest way to get views and engagement. Do not underestimate the power of sharing. You do not have to share every link from the channels you posted your content on. Just pick the one you want to get more traction on.
You can make use of features such as Instagram and LinkedIn Stories where you can invite your audience to click on your content link. You can also distribute your content link on WhatsApp chat groups or Facebook groups and ask for people’s opinions.
This will create engagement on your post and if it is beneficial to your audience, they will most likely share it around.
Conclusion
Content is king as it rules the internet. Behind every great man, there is a great woman. So that makes distribution the queen. Without her, your content is nothing. If you want to be known for your content you should be distributing it. Otherwise, you will remain undiscovered.
