The last Bitcoin is expected to be mined on May 7th, 2140. This means we still have a long way more to mine the last Bitcoin due to the process known as halving. Bitcoin remains one of the most popular cryptocurrencies to mine, alongside Ethereum mining. To this day, Bitcoin miners continue to buy expensive mining rigs to mine Bitcoin.
If you are looking to try an inexpensive way to mine Bitcoin or are just curious to know how it works, then you have come to the right place.
I use a software called CryptoTab Browser. It is simply a browser that ‘mines’ Bitcoins while you surf the internet. The browser looks and works similarly to Google Chrome as it is based on Chromium. CryptoTab will also work with Chrome extensions.
How CryptoTab works
The CryptoTab browser appears to be mining Bitcoin but it is actually mining Monero (XMR) and converting it to Bitcoin according to the current exchange rate.
CrytoTab also offers features such as blocking suspicious IP addresses and malware extensions to protect you from online fraud and other threats. It is available for Windows, Mac OS, Android and iOS devices.
However, do take note that mining is not allowed on iOS devices. Instead, CryptoTab works on iOS devices by allowing it to access server-dependant mining, where the performance of your device is calculated in a certain way according to the algorithm, and then the cryptocurrencies are mined on a remote server.

Once you open the browser, you will see these controls (highlighted in the red box):
MINING SPEED: This allows you to control the mining speed. If you are not using your smartphone or laptop, you may put it at MAX. If you are working on your device, you can always reduce the speed or turn it off.
Cloud.Boost: Cloud.Boost is an optional feature that allows you to mine up to 15x faster, using CryptoTab’s cloud mining service. You will need to spend some money to buy speed. This can help you earn more Bitcoins faster.
MINING NETWORK: You can grow your network by sharing your referral code. The more active miners you have in your network, the higher your earnings.
Link ID: This is your unique referral code.
TOTAL EARNINGS: This shows the total earnings in Bitcoin (BTC) and the conversion in US dollars. Bitcoin is a volatile asset and therefore the US dollar rate may change every hour.
WITHDRAW BTC: Once you have mined the minimum amount of 0.00001 BTC, you can withdraw to another digital wallet. You need to confirm the withdrawal request sent to your email address.
Conclusion
I have been using CryptoTab for 5 months and I must say I am impressed with the software and service. It is a very simple tool to earn money without having to do anything.
The earnings may not be much but keep in mind that this is passive income while you use your laptop or smartphone to perform daily tasks.
Keep in mind that it is not necessary to set mining speed at MAX. Setting it at a slower speed will ensure that your laptop or smartphone does not experience any slowdown.
