Grab introduces a distinctive sonic logo to ensure its merchant-partners never miss an order amidst the sea of notifications on their phones. This move is in response to delivery delays caused when GrabFood merchants overlooked incoming orders due to indistinguishable notifications.
Often, small-scale merchant-partners at Grab use personal mobile phones to receive orders. However, some didn’t recognize the incoming order notification amidst the barrage of sounds from messaging apps and similar notifications.

Thus, the newly introduced sonic logo stands out. It captures attention with a chorus singing the word “Grab” in harmonious tones. This human touch distinguishes it from the generic notification sounds we hear every day. Moreover, to resonate with the regional audience, the sound imitates familiar Asian instruments like the angklung. This chime evokes memories of someone knocking at a door, connecting it to Grab’s delivery service.
Apart from the regional touch, the notification sound incorporates a staccato melody, symbolizing Grab’s promise of efficiency and speed. The melody remains simple, making it memorable for the listener.
Users can now hear this unique notification sound on version 4.60 of the GrabMerchant app, available throughout the SEA region.
