Philipp Kandal has been promoted to Chief Product Officer by Grab Holdings, the top superapp in Southeast Asia, with effect from February 1, 2023. Kandal will be in charge of leading the company’s product vision and strategy. Addition to managing the product, design, and analytics teams. In his new position, Kandal will concentrate on generating more value for users and partners. Unlocking greater synergies across Grab’s ecosystem, and developing a product mix that offers both affordable services and premium offerings.
Prior to taking over as the division’s head of Geo in January 2022. He joined Grab in 2019 as the head of the engineering and data science teams for Geo. Grab co-founder Tan Hooi Ling praised him as “a strong, proven executor” who “has successfully led several game-changing innovations for Grab. Which includes the development of GrabMaps and initiatives that have made the Grab ecosystem more effective.” Grab is sure that Kandal can lead the product teams and help the company grow in a way that makes money because of his experience and success in previous jobs.
