Sydney, August 27, 2024: Google Australia has rolled out a new campaign to celebrate the launch of its latest flagship devices, the Google Pixel 9 series. The campaign, created in collaboration with 72andSunny, brilliantly showcases how Pixel’s cutting-edge AI technology can inspire creativity in everyday moments.
Nic Naitanui Stars in New Pixel 9 Campaign
At the heart of this campaign is the ‘Circle To Search’ feature of the Google Pixel, which allows users to discover inspiration from the world around them with just a simple gesture. The TV commercial (TVC) features former West Coast Eagles star, Nic Naitanui, as he uncovers unexpected inspiration in a seemingly ordinary moment. Directed by the award-winning Spencer Susser, this captivating TVC is set to air during the 2024 AFL Men’s Finals and the AFLW season.
Baker Boy’s New Single Debuts in the Campaign
Adding to the campaign’s allure, the TVC is set to the rhythm of Baker Boy’s latest single, ‘KING,’ which debuts alongside the launch of the Pixel 9 series. This marks the second collaboration between Google, 72andSunny, and Baker Boy, following their ARIA Award-winning campaign ‘Helping You Help Others’ in 2023.

A Broader Marketing Push Across Multiple Channels
The film will be broadcast across TV and BVOD platforms, forming part of a broader integrated marketing campaign that spans a variety of media channels. This includes the launch of the full suite of Google Pixel 9 devices, such as the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Ross Berthinussen, President of 72andSunny ANZ, commented on the collaboration, saying, “Google’s partnership with the AFL offered us an opportunity to bring to life the cutting-edge innovation of Pixel AI in a context Australians care about. Athletes are a point of inspiration to Aussies in every aspect of their lives, from what they wear, how they style themselves, to the products they use – Nic Nat was the perfect choice to help launch the stylish new Google Pixel 9 and demonstrate the magic of Pixel AI.”
Emma Dodd, Head of Devices & Services Marketing at Google AUNZ, also expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “As a proud partner of the AFL for the last 7 years, we couldn’t think of a better context in which to showcase all of the magic that’s possible when Australians have access to the best of Google’s AI in the palm of their hand. We were delighted to again partner with 72andSunny to create distinctly local work that we know will powerfully resonate with Australians.”
