FIJI Water, the renowned natural mineral water brand, is furthering its dedication to sustainability by introducing its iconic bottles made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET) in Singapore. This significant transition applies to the popular 500 mL and 330 mL bottles, continuing FIJI Water’s global goal to replace nearly 70% of its bottle volume with recycled materials.
Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Wai Mei Lee, Vice President of International at FIJI Water, commented on the initiative, stating, “In our transition to recycled plastic, we aim to make a truly meaningful and lasting impact. In using recycled plastic, we give new life to existing materials while maintaining the same great taste, look, and quality that consumers expect from FIJI Water.”
This move is a step towards reducing the brand’s environmental footprint, while still providing the pristine quality FIJI Water is famous for. The transition not only reflects the brand’s sustainability ethos but also aligns with global efforts to minimize waste and promote circularity in packaging.
FIJI Water: Where Nature Meets Purity
FIJI Water’s exceptional quality stems from its unique sourcing. It is drawn from an artesian aquifer located in the remote Yaqara Valley on the island of Viti Levu, Fiji. Natural filtration through volcanic rock gives the water its soft mouthfeel and distinct mineral profile. Bottled at the source, FIJI Water remains untouched by human hands until opened, ensuring unparalleled purity in every drop.
Empowering Local Communities and Protecting Nature
FIJI Water’s eco-friendly efforts extend beyond packaging. On the Fijian islands, the brand has invested approximately FJ$5 million (SGD 2.98 million) in energy-efficient technologies, including microturbine energy generation and low-sulphur fuel standards, reducing sulphur oxide emissions in shipping.
The FIJI Water Foundation, established in 2007, is a vital arm of the brand’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community development. The foundation has been instrumental in providing clean water access, healthcare, and education to local communities in Fiji. Furthermore, it has championed significant reforestation efforts in the Sovi Basin, Fiji’s largest lowland rainforest, ensuring the preservation of critical ecosystems in partnership with Conservation International.
