BVLGARI’S flagship store in Kuala Lumpur has clinched the prestigious Prix Versailles – world architecture and design award in recognition of its captivating façade. This marks the first time a shop or store in Malaysia has won the distinguished award.
The exquisite exterior of the Pavilion, Bukit Bintang outlet of the world-renowned luxury brand was recognised with the top award within the Special Prize Exterior category in the South Asia and the Pacific region.
This win for Bvlgari in the globally contested award series, places it in the same standing as architectural masterpieces the world over including Fashion Avenue – Dubai Mall, Prado shopping gallery, Marseille and the flagship McDonald’s store in Chicago. Bvlgari Pavilion along with The Datai Langkawi (winning for Special Prize Interior – Hotels, South Asia and the Pacific region) are the only award recipients from Malaysia this year, building on the country’s first ever win last year with the Ritz-Carlton Langkawi.
Designed by the acclaimed MVRDV architecture and urban design practice, the façade of the Bvlgari outlet sports a striking combination of concrete, resin and brass that intertwine to deliver a breath-taking re-imagination of the luxury brand’s heritage – through is signature via Condotti styled door and a reinvention of traditional materials.
The rough concrete with resin veins are accentuated further by permeating gold light that creates a stunning marble-like façade delivering a duality of organic beauty during the day and a more enchanting dramatic effect at night.
