Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 6 August 2024: Dubai has set a new benchmark for global tourism, welcoming 9.31 million international overnight visitors from January to June 2024, a remarkable 9% increase from the 8.55 million visitors in the same period in 2023. According to data published by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), this surge places the city on a trajectory for an unprecedented performance in 2024, continuing the robust momentum established in 2023 when Dubai hosted 17.15 million international visitors.
This exceptional growth aligns with DET’s strategic goal to position Dubai as the ultimate city to visit, live, and work in, through collaborative efforts with stakeholders and partners.
Global Accolades and TikTok Triumphs
Dubai’s tourism strategies have not only driven growth but also earned international recognition. In January 2024, Dubai was named the No.1 global destination in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for the third consecutive year, a unique achievement for any city.
Moreover, Dubai has emerged as the most popular city on TikTok, with over 29.7 million posts, surpassing London and Paris. This popularity on TikTok, a platform with over 1 billion monthly active users, underscores Dubai’s appeal to a diverse range of travelers seeking inspiration for their next adventure.
Growth from Australasia
Targeted campaigns by DET led to significant growth in key markets, notably Australasia. Between January and June 2024, the region contributed 154,000 visitors, marking a substantial 27% increase from the previous year’s 121,000 visitors.
