Doctor Strange did what he “had to do to protect the world”, and he opened the Multiverse. Remember when saving the world was enough for any self-respecting film character? These days, they have to think bigger. In 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Earth’s mightiest heroes went as far as saving the Universe – or half of it, anyway. But since then, even a feat as impressive as that seems woefully short of ambition. In 2022, superheroes are expected to navigate their way around a whole labyrinth of different universes. The multiverse is the place to be.
Fresh off the insane success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the expectations from Doctor Strange to deliver are huge. After all, he’s clearly an antithesis and a rule breaker in a world full of perfect superheroes. His recklessness opened the multiverse portal, giving life to a plethora of future possibilities in the MCU. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a wonderfully way-out title in its own right: rich with the promise of pulp-fiction excitement and midnight-movie wackiness.
Critics are calling this movie the ‘most haunting Marvel film ever’. One critic wrote, “Don’t worry, Sam Raimi fans. DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS fully goes horror—jump scares, body horror, and a smattering of diabolical kills. It fits in the MCU but has Raimi’s deranged creepy campy groovy DNA all over it. Start the Elizabeth Olsen Oscar campaign.”

The Super Bowl trailer didn’t hold back on the incredible visuals, including the broken realities and universes. Each scene shown in the trailer did not skip a beat in the sheer spectacle of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Of course, it sparked intense reactions from fans, who shared their excitement for the film and broke down some of the trailer moments.

As the world is set to witness the true ramifications of parallel realities in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, multiple guesses and fan theories have been floating around.
However, the one that has left fans intrigued is Tom Cruise’s presence as the Superior Iron Man. Cumberbatch was recently quizzed on the Mission Impossible star being part of Doctor Strange 2. Keeping a straight face, the Hollywood actor said, “Tom Cruise? Yeah, he is in every scene you haven’t seen in the trailer. It is the biggest kept secret.”
What is “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” if not “WandaVision” persevering? Why do Wanda Maximoff and our title hero seem to be zombies, and what is the Darkhold? Curiosity is flooding our Marvel-Cinematic-Universe-film-fan brains as we highly anticipate the ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel. Every criticism of it is only getting us more hyped. Not enough cameos? A little all over the place? Too indulgent in stylization? A surprisingly simple story? Too dark for children? WE’RE STILL ALL IN.
Also starring Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Xochitl Gomez, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Stuhlbarg, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will open in theatres on May 6. The film is set to draw big audiences even in India, where it has made over Rs 20 crore in advance bookings alone.
