Dementia Australia: The Chosen Charity for Penrite Oil Sandown 500
Dementia Australia proudly announces its appointment as the designated charity for the eagerly awaited Penrite Oil Sandown 500. This race, marking its grand return to the Repco Supercars Championships calendar, is set to take place from 15th to 17th September at the renowned Sandown International Motor Raceway in Melbourne.
A Tribute to a Racing Icon
The decision by Penrite Oil, the primary sponsor and partner of the Supercars event, to nominate Dementia Australia stems from a heartfelt tribute to Allan Moffat OBE. Moffat, a Supercars legend, Hall of Fame inductee, and four-time Bathurst 1000 winner, is currently living with Alzheimer’s disease.
Jarrod Harding, Brand Manager at Penrite Oil, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Growing up a Ford kid like many, Allan was one of my heroes, so it’s great to be able to support him.” He further added, “Dementia is a disease that affects so many families, and it’s a cause that’s really close to our hearts here at Penrite Oil. As an Australian family-owned business with strong community values, we feel it’s important to give back and support those who need it most.”
A Partnership with Purpose
This partnership promises more than just a symbolic gesture. Penrite Oil plans to collaborate with Allan Moffat to amplify Dementia Australia’s mission and rally community support for the charity’s initiatives. Excitingly, this collaboration will also feature a revamped livery of Allan’s iconic 1979 XC Federation Falcon, proudly showcasing the Dementia Australia logo.
Maree McCabe AM, CEO of Dementia Australia, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I extend my gratitude to Penrite Oil and Supercars for inviting Dementia Australia to be a part of this exciting opportunity to raise awareness and funds to support dementia services and programs.” She also highlighted the significance of Moffat’s role as a patron, emphasizing his generosity in sharing his Alzheimer’s diagnosis to foster community awareness and crucial fundraising for Dementia Australia.
A Call to Action
Race enthusiasts attending the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 are invited to Dementia Australia’s marquee, where they can access valuable information, purchase merchandise, and participate in a raffle. This event serves as an ideal precursor to Dementia Australia Action Week, scheduled from 18-24 September. With ‘Action’ as the central theme, the initiative encourages the public to take proactive steps towards a dementia-friendly future.
