Cyberview Sdn Bhd, the driving force behind Malaysia’s global technology hub, has officially appointed Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from August 14, 2023.
Before this momentous appointment, Kamarul was the General Manager of Sime Darby Property Selatan Sdn Bhd, and he played a crucial role in the Malaysia Vision Valley project in Negeri Sembilan. His vast experience in the field brings fresh expectations to the development of Cyberjaya, Malaysia’s leading tech hub.
Kamarul expressed his honour and enthusiasm, saying, “I am honoured by the opportunity to share my experience with the team as we work to vigorously operationalise the Cyberjaya masterplan, which was launched in 2019.”
Indeed, since the launch, progress has been seen, and results from various efforts made to attract both foreign and domestic direct investments are evident. However, Kamarul believes that there’s still “a huge potential to further the development of Cyberjaya.”
Kamarul’s extensive resume is an embodiment of his rich experience. He has held several key positions in Sime Darby Property Bhd, spanning from business development, strategic planning, corporate investment, to leading business units.
Furthermore, he had been the Chief Strategic Relations Officer in London for the Battersea Power Station Development Company Ltd. He represented the Malaysian consortium comprising Sime Darby Property, SP Setia Bhd, and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
With a directorial role in over 25 Sime Darby Property companies across various countries, including Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Australia, and Vietnam, Kamarul’s over 30 years of experience promises to strengthen Cyberview’s role in shaping Malaysia’s innovative future.
Cyberjaya’s position as a preferred tech investment location and a global technology hub seems to be in secure hands with Kamarul’s leadership. The community and industry await with anticipation the new directions this appointment may lead.
