28 October 2024, Singapore – Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) proudly announces the return of its signature event, the Pink Ribbon Walk (PRW), on Saturday, 26 October 2024, 5:30 pm at Marina Barrage. Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), this iconic event reaches its 16th anniversary, aiming to bring together over 5,000 participants in a unified show of support for those affected by breast cancer and to promote the critical importance of early detection.
With breast cancer accounting for nearly 30% of all cancers diagnosed in women in Singapore, BCF dedicates this annual event to spreading awareness and encouraging timely mammograms. “While October is synonymous with Breast Cancer awareness, it is important to acknowledge that developing excellent breast health habits and awareness is an ongoing dedication throughout the year. The launch of our iconic PRW event is a testament to our ongoing commitment to heightening awareness about breast cancer, promoting early detection, and being the main port-of-call for all things breast-cancer related,” shared Ms. Adeline Kow, General Manager of BCF.
A Legacy of Empowerment and Innovation
Since its establishment in 1997, BCF has stood as a beacon of hope, courage, and resilience. The Pink Ribbon Walk, introduced over a decade ago, has inspired countless women to prioritize breast health and has provided unwavering support to survivors. This year’s focus remains steadfast on:
- Empowerment and Community: Honoring survivors and their families, reinforcing the power of early detection.
- Innovation and Engagement: Building new community initiatives to champion breast cancer advocacy for future generations.
Ms. Kow further emphasized the event’s impact, “At BCF, we believe in the power of community. The Pink Light Up and Pink Ribbon Walk are more than just events; they are movements that bring people together to support, inspire, and create lasting impact. This year, we continue our mission to empower individuals and families who have been affected by the disease, fostering a proactive approach to breast health and ensuring no one faces their breast cancer journey alone.”
