In an exciting announcement, Islamic Fintech Week 2020 organizers revealed Bitcoin Association as its ecosystem partner and sponsor. The inaugural IFW2020 is hosted virtually this year, with the theme “Envisioning Islamic FinTechFuture” and is set to be a platform for global stakeholders, regulators, tech startups and the Islamic finance fraternity to come together to jumpstart the expansion of Islamic fintech ecosystem.
Bitcoin Association is the Switzerland-based global industry organization that works to advance business on the Bitcoin SV blockchain. It brings together essential components of the Bitcoin SV ecosystem and works alongside them to drive further uptake of its blockchain (which acts as a commodity data ledger).
Bitcoin Association will be represented at Islamic Fintech Week 2020 by Southeast Asia manager Ella Qiang, who is appearing on a panel about how the blockchain can be leveraged for positive impact and green sukuk. Also speaking is Bitcoin Association’s Ambassador for Malaysia, Masumi Hamahira, who serves as Executive Advisor for Islamic Banking Window at MUFG Bank (Malaysia). A globally recognized expert in Islamic finance, Mr. Hamahira is also the Honorary Treasurer, Grand Council for the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF) and a member of the Bitcoin SV Technical Standards Committee. He will present on how the Bitcoin SV blockchain is uniquely situated for business applications that can fulfill Islamic finance requirements.
“Bitcoin Association are delighted to partner with Islamic Fintech Week on this great series of events. Islamic finance requirements can be especially well-satisfied by a global public data ledger, such as Bitcoin SV, which records transactions in timestamped chronological order with transparency, auditability and honesty. We are excited to educate Islamic finance professionals, about how the Bitcoin SV blockchain can improve efficiency and transparency of asset-based liquidity management, streamline multi-party profit sharing and expand business opportunities in their sector,” revealed Jimmy Nguyen, Founding President of Bitcoin Association.
Echoing that sentiment, Elmangos Founder & Director of Elmangos Ventures, Mr. Abd Elmohaimen Mansi stated: “2020 is a high time for Islamic FinTech and it is a brilliant novelty to witness conventional bodies in the finance industry gradually and increasingly be attracted towards Islamic Fintech which will then allow it to reach new heights.”
Elmangos, as a social startup that strives to foster innovative ecosystems across the emerging markets and bring meaningful solutions and impact through technology, hopes that this event will help bring together a global community of industry bodies and unite efforts towards solving apparent challenges through Islamic Fintech.
The week will feature a themed series of discussions, roundtable sessions, debates and hopes to showcase a new experience for online attendees through the multitude of carefully curated sessions designed to address local and global challenges and uplift humanity.
