Ikram Khaliq has been named the new head of digital banking at Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia (ARBM). Khaliq has over 16 years of international experience mentoring and managing fintech and insuretech companies, according to ARBM. The bank stated he effectively integrated new solutions across banking, wealth and asset management, insurance, and financial services as a fintech consultant. The bank has invested considerably in digital innovation as it creates the framework for a customer-focused digital bank, according to Arsalaan Ahmed, CEO of ARBM, who is thrilled to have Khaliq on board to head the team.
“Through best-in-class digital banking offerings and channels to benefit ARBM’s individual and business customers, we hope to set a new standard of excellence for Islamic banking in Malaysia,” he said.
This, according to Arsalaan, is in keeping with the Financial Sector Blueprint 2022-2026, which focuses on the progress of financial sector digitalisation as well as Islamic finance leadership, in addition to the government’s emphasis on digital technology as described in the 12th Malaysia Plan. ARBM also opened its new office in Menara Hap Seng 3, Jalan P Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur, at the same time. ARBM’s digital bank team, as well as numerous other divisions, will be housed there.
“We’re pleased to be here as the new workplace allows ARBM to expand our digital bank in accordance with our mission of becoming Malaysia’s No. 1 Islamic innovation bank,” he said.
