In a strategic move that underscores its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity, AirAsia has unveiled plans to significantly expand its network to include 12 vibrant cities in India. This expansion, celebrated alongside the airline’s 20th anniversary of operations in Singapore, is set to revolutionize the travel experience for guests, facilitated by the airline’s innovative Fly-Thru connecting service.
A Strategic Focus on India
AirAsia Singapore’s CEO, Logan Velaitham, highlighted the Indian market as a pivotal focus for the airline this year, driven by strong demand. “Our Fly-Thru service is designed to seamlessly connect travelers from Singapore to India and back, boosting arrivals at Changi Airport and providing access to over 130 destinations across AirAsia’s network with just a short stopover in Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok (Don Mueang),” Velaitham explained.
This initiative not only simplifies the transit process by eliminating the need for passengers to collect or re-check their baggage but also strengthens the robust multifaceted relationship between Singapore and India, spanning tourism, economy, politics, and culture.
Enhancing Bilateral Ties
Singapore’s position as India’s eighth-largest trade partner underscores the strategic importance of this expansion. It opens doors for Indian businesses eyeing Southeast Asian markets and offers Singaporean entities vast opportunities in India’s burgeoning technology and innovation sectors. Moreover, the initiative is expected to boost leisure travel between the two destinations, offering more travel options and facilitating seamless connections.

The promotion runs from February 19 to February 25, 2024, covering travel dates between September 1, 2024, and June 18, 2025. This presents a golden opportunity for travelers to explore India’s diverse attractions at competitive rates.
A Comprehensive Network
AirAsia’s expanded network now includes flights from Singapore to key Indian cities such as Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, New Delhi, Amritsar, and the newly added routes to Trivandrum, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam, and Ahmedabad. This expansion, facilitated through the airline’s hubs in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, promises to enhance the travel landscape, offering unparalleled convenience and connectivity to passengers.
As AirAsia continues to broaden its horizons, this network expansion marks a significant milestone in the airline’s journey, promising to bring the cultures, economies, and people of Singapore and India closer than ever before.
