Amelia Adininggar Widyasanti, Deputy of Economy at the Ministry of National Development Planning, has emphasized the significance of industrial transformation for Indonesia’s economic progress. Speaking at the recent digital seminar, “Curbing the Deindustrialization Spell: Navigating to Eco-Friendly Industries,” she posited that the key to long-term economic growth is enhancing productivity through industrialization.
Highlighting the strategic goals of the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN), Widyasanti emphasized that the focus should not just be on industrialization but making it inclusive and sustainable. The adherence to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) across production processes is crucial.

Delving deeper into the RPJPN, Widyasanti indicated that her team identified specific industries for emphasis. Notably, sustainable industries connected to the oil palm and downstreaming of resources like seaweed and cocoa are among the top picks.
A holistic approach is evident as basic industries are slated for upliftment to reinforce other sectors. Case in point, the chemical sector is a pivotal industry, fulfilling the raw material needs of myriad sectors.
