In a strategic move to fortify its communications structure in Asia, tech giant Microsoft has recently announced two key appointments. Lauren Myers-Cavanagh has assumed the role of the new senior director of communications for Microsoft Asia, while Simran Singh Sethi takes on the position of senior communications manager for Microsoft ASEAN.
As the senior director of communications, Myers-Cavanagh is set to lead Microsoft’s communications endeavours in Asia, helping to further cement the company’s status as a reliable technology partner. One of her key responsibilities will be to propagate innovative storytelling focused on artificial intelligence (AI), a burgeoning field where Microsoft is making considerable strides. Myers-Cavanagh will be reporting to Douglas Dawson, Microsoft’s general manager of global communications.

Myers-Cavanagh brings a wealth of experience from her previous role at Twitter, where she held the position of Asia-Pacific director of communications and later the Asia-Pacific head of policy communications. At Twitter, she successfully constructed and managed more than a dozen regional teams, which were instrumental in preserving Twitter’s corporate and social license to operate while simultaneously fostering audience growth and revenue enhancement.
Expressing enthusiasm about her new role, Myers-Cavanagh stated, “The opportunity to be part of Microsoft’s global communications leadership team is a privilege, as is shaping the next chapter of the Microsoft story in Asia.”
On the other hand, Simran Singh Sethi, a ten-year veteran of Microsoft, is no stranger to the communications sector within the company. In his previous roles, Sethi led the communications and integrated storytelling for Microsoft’s commercial and cloud business in Asia. He will maintain his base in Singapore, reporting to Myers-Cavanagh in his new role.
The announcement of these key appointments signifies Microsoft’s commitment to enhancing its communication strategies and outreach within the Asian market. The company aims to build on its position as a trusted tech partner in the region and continue leading the narrative in AI and other frontier technologies.
