Auditing is a demanding task at the best of times. Spark Brighter Thinking (Spark) recently conducted their annual ISO 27001 surveillance audit for Singapore and Australia by coordinating team members from home, and achieved a pass in all areas.
Online security is a primary concern for all businesses, particularly with remote working practices. The protection of digital content is paramount to ensure workflows can continue with minimal disruption. The frameworks provided by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) ensure that companies have the most robust systems in place to service their clients.
‘ISO/IEC 27001 is widely known, providing requirements for an information security management system (ISMS). Using them enables organisations of any kind to manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details or information entrusted by third parties.’ (ISO.Org, 2020)
Spark developed their own Information Security Management System to ensure the continued confidentiality, integrity and availability of content, as well as fulfilling legal obligations to clients such as Disney and Microsoft.
With access to new products and information as part of customer projects, Spark has established and continually improves highly secure systems and practices in-house and throughout the supply chains.
VP for Asia Nicky Davies commented, “Working with assessors at SAI Global, we were able to show the processes and systems we have in place that facilitated us maintaining our accreditation. The team knows the value of the security and confidentiality of the content we manage, and I am proud of how they have worked to ensure the integrity of our systems. Having this provides confidence for our clients, particularly whilst we are working remotely.”
