The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is giving Malaysians 100 Reasons to Miss Hong Kong through a series of engaging activities while waiting for travel borders to reopen. Themed Bringing Hong Kong to You, HKTB will be giving Malaysians a taste of the Fragrant Harbour through a variety of engaging food-related initiatives including a collaboration with Grab, celebrity chef Ili Sulaiman, and various media partners.
To kick off the campaign, HKTB will be bringing Hong Kong food right to the doorsteps of Malaysians through one of the largest food delivery apps in the region, GrabFood. Starting 12 October, Malaysians can receive free delivery through GrabFood with special promo code IMISSHK while ordering from participating Hong Kong food merchants through the app.
Inspiring chefs can opt to follow local celebrity chef and 2015 Food Hero Asia winner Ili Sulaiman’s cooking tutorial in recreating authentic Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng (Hong Kong-style cafes) meals. Remember to follow @ilisulaiman and tune in on 17 October at 5 pm to find out her tips and tricks to creating a mouth-watering authentic Cha Chaan Teng brunch meal.
After mastering Ili’s recipes, Malaysians can take on the Cha Chaan Teng challenge to share their creative renditions of the Hong Kong dishes. Ten lucky winners will receive RM50 GrabFood gift cards, and the top two contestants will “fly” away with a Cathay Dragon flight ticket to Hong Kong each to fulfil their wanderlust once borders reopen.
The 100 Reasons to Miss Hong Kong campaign includes a wide series of content featuring the best of Hong Kong – including guides to the top Cha Chaan Teng in both Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Social media enthusiasts can also wow their followers with AR filters and a food-themed AR game where they can “savour” their favourite Hong Kong dishes.
