Singapore, September 2024 – M1 Limited (M1), one of Singapore’s leading mobile network operators, has teamed up with Stripe to enhance the mobile phone purchasing experience for its Corporate Individual (CORI) customers. Starting this September, select M1 customers will be able to reserve and secure flagship phones through the popular messaging platform WhatsApp.
This innovative service, powered by Stripe’s robust financial infrastructure, allows M1 CORI customers not only to register their interest but also place a deposit to lock in highly anticipated phones. The service builds on M1’s initial WhatsApp channel launched in August 2023, which was limited to interest registration and receiving updates on new phone releases.
Conversational Commerce Meets Mobile Convenience
As M1 embarks on its first venture into conversational commerce, WhatsApp has emerged as a natural fit due to its widespread usage across Singapore. Mustafa Kapasi, Chief Operating Officer of M1, explains, “This is M1’s first foray into conversational commerce. WhatsApp is a popular and widely-used private messaging app in Singapore, and we want to ensure we can meet our customers where they are at.”
Kapasi highlights that M1 CORI customers are increasingly seeking a more intimate channel to receive product launches and personalised updates in real time. By incorporating WhatsApp, M1 is poised to continuously enhance its retail and customer experience strategy.
Seamless Payments and Enhanced Customer Experience
Partnering with Stripe, the global leader in financial infrastructure, M1 is empowering customers with a more convenient way to secure their devices. Sarita Singh, Regional Head and Managing Director for Southeast Asia, India, and Greater China at Stripe, notes, “Singapore consumers are quick adopters of the latest technology. With M1, they can now make payments with the convenience of a WhatsApp conversation.”
This integration between M1 and Stripe is not only about transforming the purchasing process but also about delivering a seamless experience that drives customer loyalty. “Transforming the payments experience into great customer experience delights consumers, while also improving conversion rates and brand loyalty for businesses like M1,” Singh adds.
