Strategic communications powerhouse RICE has officially expanded its operations into Thailand and the Philippines, marking a significant milestone in its 15-year journey across Asia. This expansion not only extends its geographic footprint beyond its existing bases in Singapore, Myanmar, and Hong Kong but also reinforces its commitment to social impact.
A Mission-Driven Growth Strategy
Under the leadership of Donna Garcia, partner and regional director at RICE, the firm aims to enhance its influence in the region through its extensive experience in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) communications. This initiative includes collaboration with international development bodies, non-profits, and global corporations to create meaningful change.
As operations gain momentum in Thailand and the Philippines, RICE promises to deliver comprehensive insights and customized strategies. These efforts are focused on achieving impactful results that resonate with local communities and stakeholders.

Vision of Stewardship and Community Engagement
In discussing the firm’s expansion, Garcia highlighted the strategic intent behind the move: “Our expansion into Thailand and the Philippines aligns with our larger vision of stewardship, focusing on how RICE and our people can positively impact our team, clients, and the wider community. We’re not only broadening our reach geographically; we’re building creative impact hubs similar to what we’ve established in Myanmar, and making our services more accessible to non-profits, NGOs, and social enterprises in the region.”
Garcia further elaborated on the firm’s commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility: “As we grow, we deepen our commitment to this philosophy by employing marginalized individuals who might otherwise find it challenging to land meaningful roles in our industry. In Thailand, RICE has partnered with Education for the Deaf (EDeaf) to train and hire graphic designers from their network.”
Opportunities for Growth and Social Good
James Brasher, managing partner at RICE, also commented on the expansion: “The Philippines and Thailand offer RICE plenty of opportunities for growth and social good. Guided by our vision, we’re always looking at how our work can make a positive contribution to our clients, colleagues, and the communities we serve.”
This strategic expansion by RICE not only aims to widen its service offerings but also to embed deep societal contributions through enhanced ESG communications and partnerships. By doing so, RICE continues to define itself as a leader in both the communications industry and corporate social responsibility efforts across Asia.
