Asian real estate technology group Juwai IQI is launching a free training program for the more than 2,400 former staff of Air Asia who have lost their jobs in pandemic-related layoffs. Leading instructors and expert practitioners will teach the courses on marketing, social media marketing, graphic design, entrepreneurship, leadership, resume writing and advanced memory skills. The training program will be delivered either online or in IQI training centers, which are located in Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Perak, Ipoh, Penang, Sarawak, and Sabah. Those interested in participating in the training program can register their interest here.
IQI Global Group CEO Kashif Ansari said “We think this is the largest offer for free professional training ever made in Malaysia. It’s a challenging time for anyone trying to find work, especially in the tourism and hospitality industry. We want to extend a helping hand and the opportunity to learn new skills that will help with employment or starting a business.
“This training course will cost nothing for the attendees but will give them valuable skills to help them into the job market or to start their own businesses. Everyone needs a little help now and then. We are a global company that operates in some 15 markets around the world. With the essential skills that our expert instructors will be teaching, former Air Asia employees will be in a better position to provide for themselves and their families in the future.
“Because it focuses on leadership, marketing, and entrepreneurship, the training programme will empower participants to enter almost any business sector. The e-commerce industry is especially appealing because Malaysia is the ASEAN leader in e-commerce activities. Euromonitor reports that Malaysia had the largest increase in total e-commerce activities at 46.5 per cent in ASEAN from 2018 to 2019. Through 2023, Malaysia is forecast to again have the highest growth rate at 35 per cent.
“Malaysia’s excellent IT infrastructure and is embracing 5G and other technologies that will boost productivity and create new opportunities.
“One reason we can provide this training program at no cost is because we already have learning centres in each of our 15 offices around Malaysia. And we have the expertise to offer the training program online, as well. We already conduct similar training for our more than 15,000 global agents, so opening our arms to former Air Asia employees seems like the right thing to do.
“The unemployment rate in Malaysia in August was 4.7%, meaning more than 700,000 people who want jobs cannot find them. We would like to be able to teach marketing and entrepreneurship to everyone who needs a job, but one company can only do so much at one time. That’s why we’re starting with the employees of Air Asia. We will consider expanding the program later when we have more capacity.”
Juwai IQI Executive Chairman Georg Chmiel said “Juwai IQI is a global organization with our feet firmly planted in Asia and sincerely committed to the United Nation’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Sustainable Development Goal 4 aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
“We want to provide training of great utility to the former employees of Air Asia. We hope in the future to be able to extend our offerings to others who are looking for employment or to start a business in Malaysia and in other parts of Asia.”
