Marketing In Asia comes with its new highly advanced platform that can do much more for its esteemed authors.  MIA is still all about marketing and branding, but it now clearly identifies its readers and contributors; thereby helping them to get their personal or company brand even more amplified through MIA.

MIA now covers a much bigger canvas with its brands that are being launched now or will be launched soon. While most of the brands are about content that depends on our esteemed authors, some of the brands are applications that help the brands to amplify themselves better as well as create a revenue stream for themselves.

Let us understand about these Media and Content brands

  • Marketing in Asia (MIA). This is our flagship brand that remains at the heart of our publications and business. We remain Asia's Leading Online Media and now grow into a next-generation Marketing Tech platform for Brands and content creators.
  • Business In Asia (BIA). Businesses need focused attention when it comes to branding. We created Business In Asia as our brand that will publish articles contributed by businesses, and yes, this platform is exclusively for brands where MIA brings a host of services to help businesses amplify their brands across Asia and beyond.
  • People In Asia (PIA). We live in a society that is a mix of people who have so much to share. People In Asia has been created to cover people talking about health, wellbeing, entertainment, travel, education, their personal stories and much more. PIA becomes a platform to amplify the individuals and brands that make us a society cutting across geographical borders.
  • Startup In Asia (SIA). As the name suggests, SIA is focused to give voice to the startup ecosystem that includes hundreds of founders, start-up leaders, venture creators, funding companies, experts and the government. This platform intends to bring the founder and investor community closer and reap the benefits of their hard work while we amplify their voice to those who matter.
  • Happening In Asia (HIA). Marketing In Asia uses events, recognition, awards and rating as one of the key tools to brand individuals and companies. HIA is a focussed platform to talk about events and awards while bringing the participants and those who are honoured with ranking and awards on a public media platform through HIA.

Marketing in Asia will keep growing and expanding its footprint with new avenues in future that will facilitate our authors and brands on MIA to get their voice amplified and get heard by those who matter.

Who are our authors and contributors?

MIA boasts of having a large number of talented contributors from across the world who share their voice through articles, podcasts and video.

  1. Freelance Authors. Our largest contributors are from this community who regularly share their articles through our platform. Our Freelance authors not only get good visibility and are able to create their personal brand, but MIA is also soon launching its content marketplace that will help create revenue opportunities for select top-notch content creators through our platform.
  2. Corporate Authors. Business In Asia has been created specifically to amplify the voice of corporates brands. If corporate authors are not able to write or create high-quality content, MIA provides them editorial, content creation and distribution services so that their brand creates a lasting impression through their contents amongst the user community that matter most to them.
  3. MIA Editorial. Our own editorial team has been very active all along contributing a lot of quality content. MIA will continue to create the benchmark for quality content and delight our readers across the spectrum.

Understanding the details of writing article on MIA:

Author can write an article, Create & post Podcast, Create & post Videos and Create and post Sorted List and Picture Gallery. With so many options, a user must follow the instructions as they appear on the platform. While most of the items are self-explanatory, few items needs explanation.

Every author must understand the significance of the five pull down menus in this category. We will describe them here.

  1. Parent Post - This field to be used only and only if an author is trying to submit same post in multiple languages. If the article is new, this field can be ignored.  If an author has already posted an article that is published in English and may like to translate and rewrite it in 'Malay' language in that case, when the author is posting the Malay article, they will select the parent post as the 'English' post that they are translating to get a wider reach. This can be done for as many languages as the author wants. However currently system has been configured with English and Malay languages and new languages and countries will be added at regular intervals. When both the articles are approved & published, readers will see the 'Parent Article' on the MIA platform and under that article, a Language icon will appear . When the reader clicks on that icon, a popup will show the languages in which the same article has been published & read. Author can interchange the parent child relationship or update the parent article later as well.
  2. Country - This drop down has several countries and 'Global' option listed. If an article being published is specific to a country and will have little or no relevance to other countries, author should select the right country listed. 'Global' is the default option which means that the article will be seen by people from every country. Editor can update this option based on the article relevance even if author has given their preference to 'Global'. This field is highly important because readers from different countries will be able to see relevant articles and the articles will see a larger and relevant readership. Similarly, articles in regional languages must be selected for relevant country to get right readership. All readers are automatically taken to their relevant news based on their IP address.
  3. Language - This is the option to identify the language of the article. Currently we have English & Malay configured. More languages will be configured soon. This helps readers to know the language of the article and making reading easier.
  4. Category and sub category - These two drop downs are very important for authors. They must be mindful that their articles are written or modified to suit the available categories. If author is unable to get the right category across MIA and its sub brands, they may contact Editor for support. These categories are focussed to create specific interest groups and wrong set of articles coming in categories that are meant for some other purpose, it puts a negative impact for the MIA brand and readers and author too.
  5. Poll - This is an option provided by the platform to insert a poll in the article. If an author wants readers to vote after reading their articles, they can create a poll (or ask Editor to create one) and can integrate the poll in their articles before submitting. Such an option can be very powerful to draw readers and take their opinions at the same time.
  6. Scheduled Post - This is an option that the author can exercise if they want their article to be published at a particular date & time post approval. After Approval of the Editor 9Post moderation), the article will get released automatically at the given time and date.
  7. Notes - Author and Moderators can use this space to discuss things about the article. In many cases the article will be not approved and Moderator will be able to update the reason for disapproving the article. Author can then update the article, update the notes for Moderator to read. Notes section keeps a log of all inputs given by Moderator before the article is put to public.

Working With Pictures

Stock Free Images:

  • Authors can use Stockfree Image websites like Unsplash to bring the pictures directly to MIA platform without uploading or editing picture. Unsplash gives you a source URL for any image share. You should use the following URL Type to share Unsplash images. Always use "https://source.unsplash.com/(Picture ID)". Example is given Below.

https://source.unsplash.com/TtJ0CLjLi6w

You can get the Picture ID from the Picture URL on Unsplash as shown below - The last part of the URL is the Photo ID.

Author's Images:

  • Authors can otherwise upload any image preferably JPG/JPEG images on the platform and use them by clicking "Add Image" button Left top above the Editor.

Embedding PodCasts & Video in Your Article:

Authors should either upload their podcasts directly from their machines or embed codes from providers like Spotify and Youtube. They shoud use <> (Embed Code) function available on the editor to do that. They should use this function while using Podcast & Video posting.

In Spotify it is available as "Share -> Embed Episode". You can "Copy" the embed code by pressing Copy button and use the <> (Embed Code) funtion from the menu bar or use Tools & 'Source Code'. Simply Copy this Embedded code there & rest will be automatically done.

Example of an Embed Code from Spotify:

<iframe src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/episode/4RS0lUbaD4WZPQUj5ivmYB" width="100%" height="232" frameBorder="0" allowtransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"></iframe>

Example of Embed Code from YouTube:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dre6ycjuA3E" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Important Considerations for Authors

  1. Ensure that your content is of the highest quality. MIA gets far more contributions than it can publish, therefore the editorial team is forced to drop several articles that may never be published. The only consideration for publishing is the quality of content, the relevance to MIA core focus of Marketing and branding and the Author from whom it is coming. We rate our authors based on the content quality, relevance and readership and give preference to all those authors who are on top of our ranking list.
  2. Try building your reputation. Authors are rated by MIA and the more you are rated, your articles automatically get better reach.
  3. Authors have the option to be part of the MIA Content Market where MIA opens up opportunities for Authors to earn. This option will only be applicable if your articles are published on MIA.
  4. Authors must get their profiles fully updated. A complete profile with quality pictures ensures a better trust rating of the authors for any outsider who may consider taking your services.
  5. You have a higher chance of getting published if you share Video and Podcast content.
  6. Images and pictures used in MIA must be legal. You may look at Unsplash or other such free image sites if you wish to contribute a neutral image to your content. The editor has the freedom to make changes to images based on their liking except in the cases where images are the author's proprietary.
  7. The author holds the right to the contents posted by them, however, MIA holds the right to modify and edit the article without altering its message.
